How large are the image files?
The files exist as both low-res and high-res. That means that the file could be 1 MB or less as a low-res and up to 50 MB as a high-res. By browsing the library using Long View each file size is clearly indicated. Because full color graphic images are usually quite large the files will be downloaded to you using a shareware compression program called Stuffit.

What if I do not have Stuffit?
There is a direct link to download Stuffit to your computer on this page above the login fields. It will be necessary to have this program in order to view downloads on your computer. After downloading Stuffit re-boot your computer and follow the simple installation steps. This will only have to be done once. Any files downloaded to your computer will automatically decompress once Stuffit has been properly installed.

How long will it take to download a file?
The download time will vary based upon your Internet connection. If you are connected to either an ISDN, T1 or T3 line the downloads occur fairly quickly. A low res file can be downloaded in a minute and a high res image may take20-30 minutes depending upon document size. If connected by a 28.8k modem the low res will take several minutes & the high-res times can be extended (1-2+ hrs) based upon overall file size. It is suggested that you download low-res images for layout purposes and if your system is not configured for efficient high-res downloading, files can be written and sent to you in a number of different media (CD, Zip, Jaz etc). Please contact our Advertising Department for further details and assistance. If your advertising agency or printer has a faster internet connection you may have them download the images directly to their server.

How do I use this service?
At the bottom of this page is a link to our library file server. Once you have clicked on the link you will be asked for your Username and Password. Fill in the appropriate information and click "ok" and you are on our library page. Once on the page you have a choice to search or browse, select browse.
The next page that will load up will display a listing of all of our product groups, and the option to select either the short view or long view. The long view will provide you with detailed information as to file sizes while the short view will offer you the same options without as much detailed information. By clicking on any file the actual product pictures will be shown as thumbnails. By clicking on any thumbnail you will see an upsize version of that image as it exists, uncropped. The arrow icons will permit you to begin downloading either a high resolution or low resolution (FPO) document. If you would like more detailed information while in the short view mode simply click on the Information icon "I". If you see an image that you want to use you may then download either a low-resolution version suitable for layout or electronic representation on your computer... or a high-resolution version suitable for high quality printing reproduction. It is suggested that high-resolution downloads be scheduled when they will not interfere with other internet activities at your business because the download will occupy a length of time based upon your individual system configurations.

Optimum Procedures
Browse the directories by product groups. Select an desired image and download the low-res version of that image to your computer. Both Mac and PC users will be able to see the low-res image and place it within a page layout. Once the layout is complete it will be necessary to obtain the high resolution file. It is recommended that the download of these files be done using a high speed Internet connection ISDN or T-1 perhaps either by a professional service bureau, a publisher or commercial printer who is accustomed to transferring large data files. It is a simple procedure to swap the low res image for the high res image within common graphic design software programs and then output to lithographic negatives. You have a set of final four color films ready to print...no scanning...no color correcting....no photography costs.
